Inside Arbour Lake

One of Calgary's original NW lake communities, Arbour Lake took shape mostly through the 1990s along Arbour Lake Drive, centred on a 10-acre private lake that residents use for swimming, paddleboarding, and ice skating throughout the year. The community sits against the western edge of the Crowfoot retail node, and the Crowfoot LRT station puts downtown within a direct ride.

Most of the housing stock is 1990s-era two-storey detached homes on standard to slightly oversized lots, with a notable cluster of larger estate homes along the lake-facing streets. Closer to the LRT and Crowfoot Crossing, townhomes and walk-up condos add density to the mix. Albi, Cardel, Jayman, and Cedarglen were among the builders active here.

For most addresses, Arbour Lake School (CBE) is within walking distance and covers kindergarten through grade 9, while Robert Thirsk High School (CBE) takes over for public grades 10-12. Residents in the eastern half of the community can reach the Crowfoot LRT station in about a five-minute walk, and Crowfoot Crossing — among the largest retail hubs in NW Calgary — covers nearly all day-to-day and weekly shopping.

Resale pricing generally falls between $475K and $825K, and lake-access estate properties can push past $1M. The buyer pool here tends to include established families drawn specifically by lake privileges, professionals working the NW corridor, and a solid share of downsizers. Demand holds steady thanks to the mix of LRT access, the lake, and Crowfoot's retail base. Also worth a look: Citadel, Royal Oak, and Hawkwood.
