Comox Valley sits on Vancouver Island's east coast about 2.5 hours north of Victoria. Combined population 70,000 (Comox + Courtenay + Cumberland). Mt. Washington Ski Resort is 30 minutes inland.

What BC taxes apply to waterfront purchases?
BC charges Property Transfer Tax (1-3% sliding). Foreign Buyers Tax (20%) applies to non-resident purchases in designated areas. The Speculation and Vacancy Tax (0.5-2% annually) applies to non-primary-residence properties owned by non-BC residents in many areas. Riparian Areas Regulation requires 30-metre setbacks from waterways.
What's the BC cottage season?
