Living in Douglas Glen
Tucked into southeast Calgary along Anderson Road between Bow Bottom Trail and Deerfoot Trail, Douglas Glen is a family-oriented neighbourhood with the Bow River pathway forming much of its eastern edge. Most of the community was built out during the 1990s, and it has since settled into a well-established, mature streetscape.
The housing stock leans heavily toward two-storey detached homes from the 1990s on larger-than-average lots, with a notable concentration of estate-style properties along the sought-after streets that trace the river escarpment. Walkout basements are common here, taking advantage of the grade sloping down toward the Bow River.
Public students in grades 10 through 12 are zoned to Lord Beaverbrook High School (CBE), while Catholic families are served by St. Cecilia School (CCSD) for kindergarten through grade 9. Fish Creek Park borders the community to the south, and the shops at Quarry Park are roughly a five-minute drive away.
Resale prices generally fall between $525K and $875K, though the largest estate homes on the river escarpment can occasionally push past $1M. The buyer pool here tends to be established families, move-up buyers, and outdoor-minded households. Worth cross-shopping against Douglasdale, Riverbend, and McKenzie Lake.
