Getting to Know Carrington

Among NW Calgary's active-development communities, Carrington is one of the newer entries — its first homes went up around 2016, with construction expected to continue into the late 2020s. Symons Valley Parkway runs through the community just south of Livingston, and Stoney Trail NW keeps east-west travel quick.

The housing mix was planned to be diverse: two-storey detached homes on standard-sized lots, paired homes in the tighter-lot pockets, townhomes clustered near the commercial core, and a growing supply of rental apartments. Brookfield, Jayman, Cardel, and Morrison — the builders behind much of Calgary's new construction — are all active in the community.

Schools inside Carrington itself are still on the way: for now, most kids attend Symons Valley schools nearby or are bused to options in Coventry Hills and Country Hills, with campuses planned within the community as build-out continues. A central network of parks and connected pathways already gives residents everyday green space.

Expect price points from roughly $450K for a townhome up to about $725K for a detached home. The buyer pool here leans heavily toward first-time purchasers, families with school-age kids, and newcomers settling into Calgary for the first time. Via Stoney Trail NW, the airport is about a 12-minute drive and downtown roughly 25 minutes. Worth cross-shopping against Livingston, Evanston, and Sage Hill.

Common Questions

Carrington Questions Answered

Who are the main builders in Carrington?
Brookfield, Jayman, and Cardel put up most of the homes in Carrington — all major Calgary new-construction firms with solid resale track records. Builder reputation matters when it's time to sell, and these mainstream names tend to hold their value reasonably well in this area.
Which other communities should I compare against Carrington?
Shoppers who like Carrington often add Livingston, Evanston, and Sage Hill to their list too. Each has its own feel, but they overlap on price range, location, schools, or amenities — it's worth touring a few to see which one fits.
How old is Carrington?
Carrington saw most of its construction from 2016 onward, which shapes the housing stock and street character you see today. Homes from this build-out era tend to share a consistent design language, which keeps resale comparisons fairly clean.
What's the drive time from Carrington into downtown Calgary?
Figure on roughly 25 minutes to reach downtown Calgary from Carrington. Actual drive time depends on the time of day and exactly where in the community you're starting from.
