Where the Maitland meets Goderich
The Maitland River runs about 150 km through Huron County and empties into Lake Huron at Goderich, long called “Canada's prettiest town.” A long rock pier marks the river mouth beside the town's harbour and its 1.5 km waterfront boardwalk.
Goderich, founded by the Canada Company in 1827, is the largest port on the east side of Lake Huron and home to the world's largest operating salt mine.
