Greater Napanee sits at the eastern end of the Bay of Quinte, the seat of Lennox and Addington County. The Napanee River bisects the town — the downtown core lined with heritage buildings sits right on the river, which flows south to the bay and Hay Bay.
The river has a genuine curiosity: a small natural tide, rising and falling six to sixteen inches — an effect found in only one other river in the world.
