Ajax Waterfront
Lake Ontario beaches and a pioneering waterfront trail in Durham Region — Pickering Beach, Paradise Beach and easy reach of Toronto.
Overview
Durham's waterfront town
Ajax lines the Lake Ontario shore in Durham Region, just east of Pickering and about 40 minutes from downtown Toronto. The community of Pickering Beach forms the town's southern, lakeside edge — a pebbly-and-sandy shore that's a local favourite for walking and watching the waves.
In 1995 Ajax became the first community on the 3,600 km Great Lakes Waterfront Trail to build a dedicated paved waterfront path — now the William Parish Waterfront Trail — and the lakeshore parks remain the town's signature.

Beaches and lakeside living
Paradise Beach, a family-friendly stretch beside a major park, anchors the shoreline alongside the boardwalk and trail. It's commuter-belt living with a genuine waterfront edge.
Waterfront and water-view properties here trade at GTA prices, but offer rare Lake Ontario shoreline within the commuter zone — from lakeside homes to newer development near the trail.
