On Long Lake
Longlac sits on Longlac Bay at the northern end of Long Lake, along Highway 11 and the CN rail line in the Municipality of Greenstone. Established in 1912 as a railway divisional point, it takes its name from the French “Longuelac” and retains a strong francophone community.
Long Lake is the heart of it — a big northern lake for boating, canoeing and fishing, with walleye, northern pike and lake trout.
