Chapleau is a town of about 1,170 in northeastern Ontario's Sudbury District, set in the boreal forest along the Kebsquasheshing River (also called the Chapleau River), with Borden Lake and its clear water and sunsets nearby.
It sits at the edge of the Chapleau Crown Game Preserve — at two million acres, the largest crown game preserve in the world, home to moose, black bear, wolf, lynx, eagles and osprey. Hunting is banned inside, but fishing is allowed.
