Gaspereau Lake sits about 10 km south of Kentville on the South Mountain, the largest lake in Kings County and the fifth largest in Nova Scotia. It's a shallow lake scattered with dozens of forested islands and hundreds of rocky skerries.
Each spring the namesake gaspereau (alewife) run up the Gaspereau River to spawn in its shallows, and the lake holds archaeological sites pointing to thousands of years of Mi'kmaw presence.
