Corner Brook is the largest city on Newfoundland's west coast, set on the Bay of Islands at the mouth of the Humber River. The river winds down through green mountains from beyond Deer Lake, then turns the corner — hence the name — into Humber Arm.
The Bay of Islands opens to the Gulf of St. Lawrence beneath the birch-covered Blow-Me-Down Mountains, and Marble Mountain's ski hill rises just outside town.
