The Saint John River runs the length of New Brunswick — through Edmundston, Fredericton, Oromocto and down to Saint John — widening southward into one of the most beautiful river valleys in eastern Canada. The head of tide reaches Fredericton, and salt water penetrates up to Gagetown.
Below the capital, four large navigable tributaries — Grand Lake, the Kennebecasis, Belleisle Bay and Washademoak Lake — branch off in a ladder of sheltered boating water.

This is gentle, pastoral river country: riverfront homes and farms, marinas, and easy navigation from Fredericton to the sea. Note that the lower valley does see spring freshet flooding, so floodplain and setback checks matter.
Waterfront ranges from in-town Fredericton riverfront to rural valley properties and tributary cottages, generally very attainable by national standards.
